Ramirez Test Orthopedic Special Test

What is it used for?

  • Testing for Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).

How to Perform

  • Position: Patient lies supine with the knee bent and foot flat.
  • Setup: Place a blood pressure cuff around the thigh.
  • Action: Inflate the cuff to 40mm Hg and hold for 2 minutes.

Interpretation of Results

  • Positive Test: Pain increases during inflation or the patient cannot tolerate the pressure for the full duration.

Diagnostic Accuracy

  • Similar to Lowenberg's sign; use with caution.
