What is it used for?
- Assessing the Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL).
How to Perform
- Position: Patient supine.
- Action: Apply a Valgus (inward) force to the knee while stabilizing the ankle.
- Test 1: Perform at 0° (full extension).
- Test 2: Perform at 30° flexion (isolates superficial MCL).
Interpretation of Results
- Positive Test: Pain or excessive gapping (>5mm).
- Note: Laxity at 0° indicates major damage to MCL + Cruciate ligaments (ACL/PCL).
Diagnostic Accuracy
- Sensitivity: 86-96%
