Supine-to-Sit Test (Long Sitting Test) Orthopedic Special Test

What is it used for?

  • Differentiating Functional Leg Length Discrepancy caused by Sacroiliac Joint (SIJ) rotation.

How to Perform

  • Step 1: Patient lies supine. Examiner compares malleoli levels.
  • Step 2: Patient sits up (Long Sitting). Examiner compares malleoli levels again.

Interpretation of Results

  • Positive Test: One leg appears longer in supine but shorter in sitting (or vice versa).
  • Interpretation: This suggests an Anterior or Posterior Innominate Rotation (SIJ dysfunction) rather than a true short bone.
