Supine-to-Sit Test (Long Sitting Test) Special Test
Orthopedic Physical Examination & Clinical Assessment Guide
What is it used for?
- Differentiating Functional Leg Length Discrepancy caused by Sacroiliac Joint (SIJ) rotation.
How to Perform
- Step 1: Patient lies supine. Examiner compares malleoli levels.
- Step 2: Patient sits up (Long Sitting). Examiner compares malleoli levels again.
Interpretation of Results
- Positive Test: One leg appears longer in supine but shorter in sitting (or vice versa).
- Interpretation: This suggests an Anterior or Posterior Innominate Rotation (SIJ dysfunction) rather than a true short bone.
