Shin Palpation Test Special Test

What is it used for?
- Diagnosing Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS / Shin Splints).
How to Perform
- Position: Patient sits or lies supine.
- Action: Palpate the distal two-thirds of the posteromedial border of the tibia (shin bone).
- Pressure: Apply firm pressure along the bone edge.
Interpretation of Results
- Positive Test: Pain that is widespread (diffuse) along the medial border (covering at least 5 cm).
- Note: Focal (pinpoint) tenderness suggests a stress fracture instead of MTSS.
