What is it used for?
- Assessing Proprioception (Dorsal Columns) vs. Cerebellar Ataxia.
How to Perform
- Step 1: Patient stands feet together, eyes open (Visual input active).
- Step 2: Patient closes eyes (Visual input removed).
Interpretation of Results
- Positive Test: Significant sway or loss of balance only when eyes are closed.
- Meaning: Indicates proprioceptive loss (sensory ataxia). If unstable with eyes open, it suggests cerebellar pathology.
