What is it used for?
- Detecting arthritis, labral tears, or capsular defects (inner and outer quadrants).
How to Perform
- Position: Patient lies supine with hip flexed to 90°.
- Action: Apply axial compression down the femur while moving the hip in an arc of Adduction/Internal Rotation to Abduction/External Rotation.
Interpretation of Results
- Positive Test: Pain, apprehension, or a grinding sensation (crepitus) within the joint.
Diagnostic Accuracy
- Sensitivity: 75%
- Specificity: 43%
