Bicipital Aponeurosis Flex Test Orthopedic Special Test

What is it used for?

  • Confirming complete distal biceps rupture (checking if the aponeurosis is intact).

How to Perform

  • Position: Patient actively flexes the wrist and makes a fist (supinated arm).
  • Action: Patient flexes the elbow to 75°.
  • Palpation: Examiner feels for the sharp edge of the bicipital aponeurosis in the medial antecubital fossa.

Interpretation of Results

  • Positive Test: The aponeurosis is not palpable (indicates rupture).

  • Sensitivity: 100%
  • Specificity: 90%
