What is it used for?
- Diagnosing weakness of T10-T12 Nerve Roots or Spinal Cord Lesion.
How to Perform
- Position: Patient supine with knees bent.
- Action: Ask patient to lift their head and shoulders (partial sit-up).
- Observation: Watch the belly button (umbilicus).
Interpretation of Results
- Normal: Belly button stays in the center.
- Positive: Belly button moves upward, downward, or sideways.
- Interpretation: Movement indicates the muscles on the opposite side are weak (e.g., if it moves up, the lower abdominals are weak).
